Commercial Marine Asset Tracking
Horizon Marine uses its knowledge of seasonal changes in ocean circulation patterns to provide optimized routing services for vessels to take advantage of currents and avoid counter currents to reduce the duration of an ocean voyage. Clients include those with seismic survey vessels, drillships, cargo barges and semisubmersible drilling rigs. A small ruggedized GPS unit is installed on each vessel and all those involved with the project can monitor the progress of the voyage via a password-protected interactive website.
Once on location, the SIMOPs coordinator can install multiple GPS units on all vessels to assist with vessel coordination of complex offshore projects. Existing Eddy Watch clients will have the added benefit of seeing our frontal analysis, drifting GPS buoy tracks, rig-mounted ADCP data and satellite imagery. This allows clients to put their vessels and the project in context with any major currents that may potentially impact a project.
