Eddy WatchTM India
Eddy Watch India is an observational program to monitor currents in the Bay of Bengal. The upper ocean circulation in the Indian Ocean is influenced by some of the most complex and widely varying oceanographic processes, resulting in a system of seasonally reversing mass transport patterns that are unique to this region. Aside from the influence of winds, extensive river discharge, and the ocean circulation conveyor belt, remote forcing is considered to be one of the most significant influences on currents in the region.
